Happy Thursday People!!

I hope that your week has been great and thank you for checking the blog frequently. So one thing that I have found myself battling with this week is why some days I’m “on” and other days I’m “off.”

Yesterday was an “off” day and I felt like I could not get anything right. I gave a speech where I stuttered more than usual, I made several airhead comments during conversations, and I felt like I was second-guessing myself more than ever before. So I spent some time dissecting it last night and what I found is the inspiration for this post.

Confidence and courage begin in the morning before the day gets going, not during it.

I did not have my head on straight before I left the house and it was all because I sabotaged my morning. Here are a couple things to keep in mind.

Clothing selection. Now I know people might think I’m superficial or weird when they read this section, but I promise you that I’m not. So I don’t care what brands or whatever it is that you wear, what matters is that you feel great in what you are wearing. What you wear needs to feel like you at your best. It’s great to be stylish but make sure you’re comfortable. Yesterday I wore some underwear that were way too small for me and I should have known. The whole day I was fidgeting and feeling uncomfortable and it made me feel nervous. Make sure that your clothes are comfortable and also give you a sense of pride. The last thing you want to do is pick out clothes in the morning that don’t enhance your mood. Pick something that makes you smile and say “damn I look good.”

Attitude about the day. Have a big day coming up? Everyday should be a big day, because you never know if you will get another one. Start the morning with some great music, get up early, and tell yourself over and over “it’s going to be a great day (smile why you say it).” If there is something you want to accomplish… go over your notes and practice the night before! If you wait for the next day to practice, you will not sleep well because you will be nervous and thinking about practicing in the morning before. You need to get a good night sleep so you can feel great when you wake up. Keep the mood positive all morning. Don’t turn on the news, it’s always depressing. Put on a great movie if you just have to watch something in the morning.

People are too stiff. Just Dance! Yes!! Do your dance in the morning. I don’t care what it is. Play some type of music that has energy and MOVE. If you start the morning out stiff and rigid, the rest of your day will follow suit, and your confidence will suffer.  Start your morning out with some fun and get loose. Your mood will be lighter and therefore you will be more confident.

Most people fail before they even get a chance to get in the game because they (mentally and physically) sabotage themselves in the morning.

Wrap Up

Confidence is all about energy. People can sense when your energy is not there and therefore you don’t appear confident. It’s funny how people that most would consider not that smart can be seen as extremely confident.

It’s all about energy!!!
